During the 2021 ABC National Championships Mr. Raymond Trimble Jr. was presented with the Honorary Brittany Handler of the Year trophy in honor of his dedication to the American Brittany since 1955, marking the introduction of the "Ray Trimble" Open Handler Of The Year Awards.

The "Ray Trimble" Open Handler Of The Year Awards are presented to the top Handler in Brittany Open All Age hour stakes and the top Handler in Brittany Open Gun Dog Dog (horseback) hour stakes. The award points are calculated starting with the ABC National Championships to the beginning of the same events the following year.
