1994 IAMS/Eukanuba All-Age Brittany of the Year Award
Mr. Buddy Boy
Oil Painting by Artist Ross Young (www.rossyoung.com)
This year's winner of the Iams Eukanuba Brittany Award is Mr. Buddy Boy.
Owned by Ed and Judy Graves, Mr. Buddy Boy is a 7 year old orange roan male out of FC & AFC Caesar's Rebel Lady, by FC Flatwoods Tiger.
Mr. Buddy Boy placed in six one-hour championships this past year, the most notable being runner up spots in the National Open and National Amateur for 1993.
Since returning from Canada with Chad and Jim Holman in the summer of 1993, Chad has placed him in 10 regional trials (7 firsts) and seven championship hour stakes.
Ed has also placed him in 12 trials, the largest being the National Amateur Championship.
Originally purchased by Terry Janasek from Chris and Kimberly Rider in Pennsylvania, Gene Steward worked him and handled him to his first win on the East Coast.
In 1990 Buddy came to Holman Kennels where he was handled to his Field Championship by Jim Holman, but unfortunately, and injury to his owner took him of the circuit for a couple of years.
Rather than waste his career, Terry sold him to Ed and Judy Graves in December of 1992.
The summer in Canada proved to be important to him. The rest is history!
This year's award was again presented by Roy Pelton at the clubhouse on the trial grounds near Booneville, Arkansas.
The ceremony was held on Saturday between the running of the National Amateur and the National Open Championships.
Roy rode part of the Nation Amateur Championship and came back for the presentation.
With well over one hundred people in attendance, Mr. Buddy Boy seemed to like the attention.
I think he'd like to do it all over again.
